About North West Swimming

North West Swimming is affiliated to Swimming South Africa (SSA) whom we recognise as the sole governing body of Swimming, Diving, Water Polo, Synchronised Swimming, Master and Open Water Swimming in the Republic of South Africa.

Our main objectives

  • To administer, promote, foster and encourage and provide facilities for this sport and the arts of amateur swimming, diving, water polo, synchronised swimming, open water swimming and other aquatic sports.

  • To ensure the conformity of laws of control and regulation in the aquatic sports and the management of all competitions therein and generally to ensure observance thereof.

We encourage the practice of swimming for all in South Africa with the purpose of:

  • Reducing the frequency of drowning tragedies in South Africa.

  • Providing healthy exercise and recreation for all.

  • Recruiting recreational swimmers to compete in the various disciplines of the sport, i.e. swimming, diving, synchronised swimming and water polo.

  • Encourage disadvantaged swimmers, coaches and officials so that the diversity of the South African population will be represented at competitions.

  • Other duties as prescribed by SSA.

For us to ensure the conformity of laws of control and regulation in the aquatic sports and the management of all competitions therein and generally to ensure observance thereof, including administer, promote, foster and encourage, provide facilities for this sport and the arts of amateur swimming, diving, water polo, synchronised swimming, open water swimming and other aquatic sports, we also need the help of the Aquatic / Swimming Learning and Sporting Institutions.
